When last we saw our favorite heroes and villains in Once Upon a Time’s midseason finale, “Swan Song,” Zelena was sent back over the rainbow, Mr. Gold had once again become The Dark One, and Emma was determined to save her beloved Hook, whom she’d had been forced to sacrifice to save, well, everyone else. Here’s five things we learned about the upcoming Season 5B at the Once Upon a Time 100th episode Red Carpet event.

1. Highway to Hell: It’s no secret that our heroes’ next destination is The Underworld. But who knows what evil lurks therein?? Producer Steve Pearlman knows! “We’re bringing back characters that we kind of lost along the way. Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), and Cora (Barbara Hershey), and Cruella (Victoria Smurfit) [are] back.” Josh Dallas (Prince Charming) dished that the characters will be confronting parts of their pasts, and “their past is coming back to haunt them in many ways.” About his character, Dallas says, “[Charming’s] going to get hit right in the face with his past. He’s going to discover things about himself, things about his past, and we’re going to see how he deals with that.” On a related note, we asked the show’s creators and producers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, if it isn’t bound to be awkward if Emma (Jennifer Morrison) were to run into Neal (her son, Henry’s, father, played by Michael Raymond James) in the Underworld and have to tell him that she is there to rescue Hook and not Neal? Kitsis and Horowitz agreed that it would indeed be awkward, but advised fans to keep watching and see what happens. Fair enough!

2. Over the Rainbow: When Regina (The Evil Queen; Lana Parrilla) used the Apprentice’s wand to send her half-sister back to Oz, we just knew Zelena (the Wicked Witch; Rebecca Mader) would be back! Pearlman revealed that he is directing episode 5-16 which he described as “a big Oz episode with Zelena, and [Rebecca Mader] was so much fun to work with.” Mader confessed that she’s “Loving what I’m shooting right now, and I can’t wait for it to air! I just think the fans are going to love it. I know I am, and I know my mum and dad are.”

3. “Well, I’m not called Captain Two-Hands; you know what I mean?” That’s what Colin O’Donoghue (Killian Jones/Captain Hook) quipped when we asked him whether Killian will still have his hook in the underworld. O’Donoghue confirmed that his character, while technically pushing up daisies, does still have his hook. “It’s weird — my left hand doesn’t know how to act because I haven’t used it in three years!” But he also revealed to Seattle Refined that he has “a very fine left hand.” We agree!

4. Good girls go to heaven; bad girls go everywhere? We asked Parrilla if it was more fun being a hero or a villain. “A VILLAIN!” she responded with glee. “I love playing her! In the 100th episode you’ll get a lot of the Evil Queen. She’s making a comeback!” We also asked Mader if it was as much fun to play a villain as she makes it look. She replied, “It’s really fun. This is the best role I’ve had in my life. I have so much fun when I go to work.” She joyfully adds, “[Zelena] is just AWFUL! She’s just such a terrible person sometimes!” Continuing the theme, Jennifer Morrison revealed that the Dark Swan story arc from Season 5A has been her favorite thus far.

5. Spoiler Alert? We asked Kitsis and Horowitz if they have an “end game” in mind for the series. “Everyone dies!” joked Kitsis. “A show about hope ends totally hopeless; it’s the greatest twist ever — EVER!” (Fans of the series Lost, on which Kitsis and Horowitz worked as writers, might disagree with that assessment.) Horowitz said, “It’s a show about hope, so I would hope that there’s a hopeful ending.” Well played, gentlemen. Well played. Fans just hope that we don’t have to worry about an ending for another 100 episodes at least.
